Erik Seidel Biography

Born on November 6, 1959, Erik Seidel lived in New York City for the early part of his life. Initially, he played at Backgammon tournament and worked in Wall Street alongside Paine Webber trading stocks. Seidel almost created an upset by beating the favorite Johnny Chan at a WSOP event in 1988 (He stood 2nd).
Even though initially he did make a name with small cameo performances, for the past one decade, he has made it big in the poker circuit. In 2005, at a No-Limit Hold’em Poker event, he went on to win a whooping USD 611,975. In 2008, he even captured the Foxwoods Poker Classic. Again, he won a whooping AUD 1 million in Aussie Millions. He's also made numerous appearences in Poker After Dark - probably the best poker show on television!
Till date, his overall winnings have been worth over USD 9 million. His WSOP earnings amount to USD 4.5 million. It is believed that the World Poker Tour is his futile ground, as he found himself in 16 events making through to couple of final table appearance. Overall, Erik totaled more than 100 crashes in different major tournaments across the globe. When it comes to overall earnings, he is currently positioned ninth and still going strong for more. Again, his 57 crashes at WSOP events place him forth alongside another great Berry Johnston.
